And The Nominees Are
Well the Academy really doesn’t give a shit what movies 95% of normal people like apparently as The Dark Knight is snubbed from not only Picture and Screenplay but they have the audacity to not give anything to Christopher Nolan. I mean a)who other than people like me have seen The Reader or Frost/Nixon? And of those who did see it, who IN THEIR FUCKING MIND thought those films should be in the discussion of “great film”.
Oh and don’t think they were done telling you to fuck off, as they ignore America and don’t vote in anything for Gran Torino (even though I didn’t like it, America does).
And the worst snub other than obviously Picture and Director is the fact that Springteen wasn’t nominated for The Wrestler. I mean these people don’t know shit, and on that note: Fuck off Academy.
Best Picture:
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Frost/Nixon
Milk
The Reader
Slumdog Millionaire
Seriously? Frost/Nixon was dumb as shit and the Reader is porno for Nazi sympathizers.
Best Director:
David Fincher - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Ron Howard - Frost/Nixon
Gus Van Sant - Milk
Danny Boyle - Slumdog Millionaire
Stephen Daldry - The Reader
To give The Reader a BP slot is one thing, but to say that Daldry’s (and Howard’s and Van Sant’s) direction is superior to Nolan is a fucking joke.
Best Actor:
Brad Pitt - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler
Sean Penn - Milk
Frank Langella - Frost/Nixon
Richard Jenkins - The Visitor
A list I’m actually okay with.
Best Actress:
Kate Winslet - The Reader
Anne Hathaway - Rachel Getting Married
Meryl Streep - Doubt
Angelina Jolie - Changeling
Melissa Leo - Frozen River
Well Kate Winslet wins her first Oscar for the first nomination she doesn’t deserve it for.
Best Supporting Actor:
Heath Ledger - The Dark Knight
Robert Downey Jr. - Tropic Thunder
Josh Brolin - Milk
Phillip Seymour Hoffman - Doubt
Michael Shannon - Revolutionary Road
Thank god Dev Patel didn’t show up here, again a list that makes fucking sense.
Best Supporting Actress:
Viola Davis - Doubt
Penelope Cruz - Vicky Christina Barcelona
Taraji P. Henson - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Marisa Tomei - The Wrestler
Amy Adams - Doubt
I’m glad Henson and Adams both got in, even though I don’t particularly like Doubt.
Best Original Screenplay:
Milk
Frozen River
Happy Go Lucky
In Bruges
Wall-E
Wow they actually got one nomination correct with In Bruges.
Best Adapted Screenplay:
Doubt
Slumdog Millionaire
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Reader
Frost/Nixon
Dumb.
Best Original Song:
Down To Earth - Peter Gabriel (Wall-E)
Jaiho - A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire)
O’Saya - A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire
The soundtrack for Slumdog is nothing but an Indian Dance Remix. It is nothing truly special, and to only nominate 3 songs when they can do 5, and for that, ignore The Boss and great songs from Jamie Cullum, Beyonce, and Jason Segel is maybe the most half-witted thing I’ve heard in a long time.
