Well the BBWAA got every award they gave out right. Mauer and Lincecum were obvious the best in their fields even if ESPN would argue against that point. I have to curtsy to them. Maybe that infusion of new blood from the sabrmetric crowd is starting to peak through.
However, before we start patting backs, lets take a closer look. Though, they may have gotten their result correct, they got there by showing that many of them have no idea what they are doing.
First off, Miguel Cabrera gets a first place vote over Joe Mauer? Are you crazy? That is just blatant ignorance. Or how Derek Jeter wasn’t on every ballot (You know how I feel about him, but he was one of the 10 best in the AL).
And then today’s announcement of Yahweh himself getting his 3rd MVP was tarnished by some atrocious overall votes. Here are the results, with their Actual Win Value. You tell me whats wrong?

Does anyone find the italic ones to be a tad ridiculous. No surprise here that Ryan Howard (3rd, really?) continues to be overrated, but Andre Ethier takes the cake for the worst vote of the decade. He got 2 2nd place votes. Those writers should be airgunned. Of course the 7.6 and 8.2 are Utley and Lincecum, whose talents are completely unseen by this party of idiots. And that isn’t the worst.
Wanna know who came in 28th with 2 10th place votes? Ryan Zimmerman. Yes he of the 7.1 WAR finished behind Jeremy Affeldt and his 0.8 WAR. How can people be paid to be this dumb?
