My Life In Technicolor

Well the Phillies were going after a former Cy Young winner for the past month, and as it turns out, they got a different one. Ken Rosenthal is reporting the Phils have agreed to send P Jason Knapp, P Carlos Carrassco, 2B Jason Donald, and C Lou Marson to the Indians for Cliff Lee and OF Ben Francisco who will provide a much needed RH bat off the bench and a outfield defensive replacement for Raul (he needs more rest from now until the end of the season with his lingering injury).
This deal is fantastic for both sides really, but I think the Phils win. They get a former Cy Young pitcher who is having a very under the radar season because he had one bad month and it happened to be April. He is priced much more affordably than Halladay, so it gives the organization some room to get a righty reliever this off season.
I think a guy like Donald will prove he has talent in Cleveland, but he was blocked for a while in Philly. Carrasco has all the talent in the world, but the ? has been his head so we will see if he can get all the pieces together. Marson could have been our catcher of the future, but I don’t think he was the kind of can’t-miss prospect that we’ll regret dealing. Knapp is the wildcard here, as he could really develop into a top-of-the rotation starter, but isn’t really heralded as much as the key to a deal like this usually is.
Needless to say, I’m pumped and can’t wait to get a second flag on my arm.
