Over a season, it is not very hard to predict what a given player or team will do, however on any given night, its almost unpredictable.

Jonathan Sanchez was relegated to the bullpen because he had been so bad this season. Tonight, he had to fill a spin in the rotation because Randy Johnson got hurt, and decided to throw a No-No.

Sanchez, he of the 5.65 ERA and 1.68 WHIP this season, had never thrown a shut out or a complete game. He figured to get those out of the way tonight. He actually threw a perfect-game himself, but Juan Uribe made an error at 3rd on a relatively easy play.

Pay attention to the Giants, they were my dark horse team at the beginning of the season, and are currently leading the Wildcard race. If Sanchez can pull it together, the Giants would probably have one of the rest rotations in baseball led by Matt Cain and the best pitcher in baseball, Tim Lincecum. Oh BTW, he took a no-hitter into the 7th yesterday.

Baseball truly is an amazing game.
