The 2000's: 2002
2002: Favorite Moments in Film
2002 is the year I would say I’m least familiar with of the decade. There are tons of movies I want to see including, City of God, Punch Drunk Love, and Minority Report. Of the ones I have seen, I really liked Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers, Road To Perditon, The Bourne Identity, and Adaptation. Not to mention the May 2002 debut of some franchise called...

The 2000's: 2002
2002: Favorite Moments in Sports
In August of 2002, it was apparent that Pete Sampras was coming to the end of what many would consider to be the best career in the history of tennis (until that point…ahem). His feet were heavy, his serve was softer, his volleys were losing that patented touch. He had just lost at Wimbledon for the first time in 5 years a month prior to some lowly 21 year...

I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED
I can’t describe this any better than the guys over at Warming Glow, but suffice it to say, I’m convinced that producers and/or writers of this and similar shows, are like comic geniuses on the level of like Andy Kaufman. Gold like this doesn’t just happen.
There is a show on VH1 called “Real Chance at Love 2,” and I don’t pretend to know what it’s about, but judging by...

Ben Franklin
I went to the Franklin Institute today because all the museums were free, and I was reminded of just how many great quotes he has, it’s a tad ridiculous. Here’s one of my favorites.
“Perhaps the history of the errors of mankind, all things considered, is more valuable and interesting than that of their discoveries. Truth is uniform and narrow; it constantly exists, and does not...

My Fall TV Preview
With the Emmy Awards behind us, the 2008-2009 TV Season is officially in the books, and the new season has already started its engines.
There are a handful of returning shows that I am excited for, and a couple of new ones that I think you might want to check out. I’ll highlight two of each.
The Newcomers

All you have to say is Zach...

The Emmys: What Ya Shoulda Done.
Now I know awards and all that are extremely meaningless, and not just in the grand scheme of things kind of way. Nonetheless, I find them fascinating and is usually something that everyone can understand and argue about.
I’m going to pick a few awards I think they particularly missed. Some are totally agreeable, others atrocious.

Louis C.K. is funnier than pretty much everyone, but even he makes stupid jokes from time to time. So good lol.

Will They Just Do It Already...A Song That Is.
“Meanwhile, inside sources revealed Katy Perry was caught locking lips with John Mayer at Gold Bar on Friday.”
That is one step away from John Mayer and Zooey hooking up. So it’s possible. Now if only we can get that no-talent hack of husband* of hers out of the way, we can get this going.
*Not true
Like just look at her.
She keeps me up at night.

This Is Why People Hate You
MTV Shows
I’m sick of defending Kanye West. He makes fantastic music 90% of the time, but he is a fucking asshole 100% of the time.
My favorite part about this is that it turned out that Beyonce won the fucking VIDEO OF THE YEAR instead. (How you win video of the year, but not the lesser award is beyond me, but i digress) Both Beyonce and Taylor were real class acts about it.

Homer’s Barbershop Quartet
Click on the link above (I couldn’t embed) for the classic season 5 episode Homer’s Barbershop Quartet. Continuing with everything Beatles this week, this episode is one big homage to the band, from the album covers to “Moe’s Cavern”. George Harrison even is the special guest star in one of my favorite Homer food gags in the...

Last but not least for today, here is a cover of Across the Universe by Rufus Wainwright from the I Am Sam soundtrack.
This is the only cover I’ve heard of a Beatles song that I think is better than the original. Much of that comes from the quality of the recording of the original one, but Rufus really just created a beautiful arrangement that fits the tone of the song wonderfully.

So I thought today’s Beatles topic would be awesome Beatles covers.
This one is from the Concert For George, a night to honor the memory and music of George Harrison. This is a song of his called My Sweet Lord, and is being covered by an all-star line up here.
On drums are not 1, but 2 legends, Ringo Starr and Phil Collins. Playing the keys is one Sir Paul McCartney. On guitar we got...

The new trailer for what is becoming one of the most highly anticipated films of the season, Up In The Air. It is the third feature from Jason Reitman, and if his last two pictures, Thank You For Smoking and Juno are any indication, along with all of the praise he is getting right now, I would bet this is gonna be one of the best of the year.
Up In The Air has a cast headlined by George Clooney,...

The Best of The Beatles
Continuing with Beatles Week here at My Life In Technicolor, lets delve into the best songs by the best band of all-time. Right from their first hit ‘Love Me Do’ to their last ‘Let It Be’, the Beatles just made hit after hit after hit. Even songs that were never released as singles probably would have easily took number 1 if it weren’t for other Beatles songs. Its that depth of their catalog that...

Chuck Klosterman Repeats The Beatles
Let’s kick off The Beatles’s week with this recap of the musical catalog of the band by famed author Chuck Klosterman, via the AV Club (Note: Thanks to my MLIT author Dan for showing me this).
By Chuck Klosterman September 8, 2009
Like most people, I was initially confused by EMI’s decision to release remastered versions of all 13 albums by the Liverpool pop group Beatles, a 1960s...

"I get by with a little help from my friends"
@johncmayer: I wonder if The Beatles are pissed that their new albums have leaked. 40 years ago.
I have been getting all Beatled out in preparation for next week’s release of new remasters and of course The Beatles Rockband. I’m hoping for a couple of pieces next week to celebrate the occasion, with a little help from our resident Beatles expert, Cameron Baker.

What Team Is This?
The Phillies, at home mind you, scored 11 runs on their 6-game homestand. In the last series they scored 3 runs.
Any guesses on their record in that homestand?
Yea. 4-2, and 2-1 in the 3 run series.
When did we become the Giants of the East?
Also, it was so nice seeing vintage Pedro tonight.

The way they used apple’s user friendly technology against them is impressive, really.
I hate criminals and scumbags more than almost anyone, but these guys deserve to get away from this one, they just made it look sooooo easy.

New Photos From The New Season of How I Met Your...
The fall TV season is almost here (I think I’ll do a little piece in a week or so) and we get a little taste with these new photos from the 5th season of How I Met Your Mother.
Alyson Hannigan had a baby 4 months before this was shot. Damn. So glad that they don’t have to cover her pregnancy, and Colbie Smulder’s, up anymore.
These photos are from the second episode entitled...
